Ralph Deck

Ralph Eugene Deck Sr., 85, of Albion, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at his home south of Wolf Lake. Mr. Deck was born on May 25, 1929 in Oakwood, Ohio, a son of George G. and Elmira (Rollins) Deck. After high school Ralph joined the United States Air Force and served his county for 17 years including 10 years in foreign service. On January 5, 1957 he was married to Vada Ilene Smeltzer. After the Air Force he was employed at Dana, and retired in 1993. Mr. Deck was a member of the Churubusco VFW The surviving relatives include wife of 57 years, Vada Ilene Deck of Albion; two sons, Joe (Jackie) Klase of Goshen and Ralph E Deck, Jr. of Albion; four daughters, Tina M Deck of Albion, Shari A (Rocky) Taylor, Linda A. (Randy) Kuhn both of Cromwell, Wanda S Hines of Albion; A Daughter-in-law, Angie Deck of Garrett; a sister, Joan Ott of Merriam; 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons Bruce L. Deck and Eugene L. Deck; two brothers, Robert Deck and Warren Deck, Sr.; two sisters, Marcile Foote and Joyce Thompson; two grandsons, Curt Hasting, Jr., and Bruce Leo Deck, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Dan Carlson, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Wolf Lake Cemetery, Wolf Lake.
