Ramonda Jean Winters, 63, of Churubusco, passed away on May 27, 2026, at her home in Fort Wayne.
She was born in Gary on October 31, 1962, to the late Ruie and Lillie (Haggard) Winters. Ramonda was a beloved sister, friend, and shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ramonda spent her formative years in Porter County, where she developed a passion for people that would remain a significant part of her identity. In her youth, she was actively involved in the Whitley County Special Olympics Bowling and Athletic Teams, where her spirit and determination inspired her teammates and competitors alike.
In 1998, following her mother's passing, Ramonda moved to Churubusco, where she became a cherished member of her community. At her group home, she was known for her unwavering compassion. She possessed a remarkable ability to sense when others were in distress, always being the first to offer comfort by asking if they were okay and holding their hands in support.
Ramonda dedicated many years of her life to working at Tower View Industries in Columbia City, where her work ethic and kindness left an indelible mark on her colleagues. She had a deep love for Jesus, which guided her interactions and informed her caring nature.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Vickie Kaiser, and her brother, Ruie (Becky) Winters; two nieces. Ramonda will be profoundly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.
A burial took place at McCool Cemetery in Portage next to her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ramonda's honor to the Special Olympics, a cause she held dear. As we reflect on her life, we remember the kindness, joy, and love she shared with the world, leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire.
Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
