Raymond Gaff

Raymond Lee Gaff, 92, of Meza, AZ, formerly of Churubusco and Muncie, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Muncie Estates. He was born in Churubusco on October 31, 1929, to the late Thomas and Maude (Bennett) Gaff. He spent his formative years in Churubusco and graduated from Churubusco High School. Raymond served in the United States Navy Reserve for four years following high school. He was married to Betty Bricker, in Fort Wayne, on February 15, 1953. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1999. Later he was married to Katherine Mortell-Gaff. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2022. He retired from Dana Corp. in Fort Wayne, after 35 years of service. He also enjoyed farming. His love for growing things was evident in his big gardens. Raymond belonged to the Churubusco United Methodist Church and the Churubusco and Muncie Lion's Club. While he was in Churubusco, he helped with taking food to the homebound. He served on the Northwest Allen County School Board for four years. He enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to hike, fish, garden, and travel. He was creative and liked to do woodwork, make bolo ties, and make stone clocks. Raymond is survived by his two sons, Stephen and Jeffrey (Jan) Gaff; two brothers, John and Leonard "Jake" Gaff; a sister, Shirley Stamp; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and two wives, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Norem, in 2002; three brothers, Thurlo "Frog", Rodger, and Carl Gaff; five sisters, Ilene Gordon, Mary Grey, Willodeen Kirkpatrick, Nevah Fulk, and Barbara Leitch. Graveside services will be held at, 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at the Eel River Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Michel J.
