Richard Born

Richard D. Born, 68, of Columbia City, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Waters of Columbia City. He was born in Columbia City, on May 22, 1954, to the late Frederick and Phyllis (Rollins) Born. He spent his formative years in Churubusco. After high school he served in the United States Army. Richard was married to Linda (Stresemann) Mabie on November 15, 1997, in Waterloo. Richard retired from Keystone Concrete where he was an operator. If Richard wasn't working, he was fishing. He also enjoyed bowling, building model cars, and coloring. Richard is survived by his wife of 25 years, Linda Born; six children, Richard (Dawn) Born, Jr., Steve (Santana) Born, Troy Born, Jeff (Angie) Mabie, Jason (Karon) Mabie, and James Mabie; his brother, Dennis (Sharon) Born; his two sisters, Carol (Roger) Boggs and Brenda (Charles) Johnson; 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Jaquavia Treesh. A funeral service will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive family and friends at the Funeral Home, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the funeral home to help with final expences.
