Richard H. Horstmeyer, passed away at age 83, at Parkview Hospital, on October 26, 2011.
He is a son of the late Paul and Helen (Kehr) Horstmeyer, born April 1, 1928, in Fort Wayne. A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Chemistry, he enjoyed a long career in public education as a high school teacher of physics, chemistry and math in Bunker Hill, Kokomo, as well as at Huntertown High School, and Central High School, Fort Wayne. He then became Vice Principal of Northrop High School, and lastly, Principal of Elmhurst High School before retiring in 1987.
He was also an active member and elder of Our Hope Lutheran Church, Huntertown, for over 40 years, holding the past offices of Chairman of the Congregation and Chairman of the Board of Elders, as well as, Bible Study and Youth Group Leader.
He is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Barbara Ann (Huber) Horstmeyer; four sons Rick (Kathleen), Gregg (Joyce), Kirk, and Markus (Judy); a brother Robert (Ann) Horstmeyer; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Horstmeyer is preceded in death by his son Philip John and two sisters Joyce Meyers and Carol Bair.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, October 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Hope Lutheran Church, Huntertown. The visitation is on Friday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m., at Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, at 206 North Main Street, Churubusco. Additional calling one hour prior to service at church.

Internment at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
