Richard E. Yearling, 89, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 2:39 p.m., on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Born on May 30, 1928, in Payne, Ohio to Clarence and Irene (Phillips) Yearling. He spent his formative years in Huntertown and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1946.
After high school he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Richard was married to Mary L. King on March 3, 1950, in Payne, Ohio. She preceded him in death on February 2, 1995.
He retired from the Operating Engineers Union of Fort Wayne in 1990 after 65 years of service and remained a member until his death.
He was a member of the VFW, Jim Eby Post 857, in Fort Wayne and the American Legion Post #82, in Fort Wayne.
Richard is survived by his sons, Lenny (Vicki) Yearling and Richard "Brent" Yearling; his daughter, Jill (Mark) Eckert; two grandchildren, Sarah Eckert and Bill Eckert; two great grandchildren, Jacob and Madison Dickman.
He is preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Services will begin at 5:00 p.m., at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on Saturday, April 14, 2018.
Burial will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
