Robert Paul Bell, 88, a former resident of Churubusco and Lake Township in Allen County, passed away at 4:45 p. m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Summit City Nursing Home in Fort Wayne.e He had been a patient there for the past two years. Mr. Bell was born on July 21, 1924 in Warren, a son of William and Minnie (Colbert) Bell, and was married to Nellie J. Wageman on May 9, 1943.e During World War II he served in Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland and Central Europe under General George Patton in the U. S. Army. Employed at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne for 30 years, he retired as an inspector from there in 1983.e He and his wife owned and operated the 5 B's Tavern in Arcola for a period, and later established the Eel River Camp Ground near Churubusco.e He served on the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department for 18 years, and later served as the Lake Township trustee. He had been an activee member of Churubusco Veteran's of Foreign Wars Turtle Post 3846, and was a member of American Legion Post 82 in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Bell preceded him in death on March 20, 1993. The surviving relatives include two daughters JoAnn (Kirk) Kirkpatrick of Angola and Connie E. Warstler of Lakeland, Fla; a son-in-law George A. Shaw of Rotonda West, Fla; a brother-in-law Chris Wageman of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter Juanita Shaw; two sons Gary Bell and Wayne Bell;e four brother Dean, Clyde, John, and Claude Bell; ande two sister Dorothy M. Walters and Myrtie. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Jim Hazecamp, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday after 11 a. m. until the time of the service. Interment with military graveside rites will be in the Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
