Robert Fudge

Robert A. Fudge, 95, a resident of Lake Township in Allen County, went peacefully on the morning of Monday, May 27, 2013, at the Hamilton House in Fort Wayne. Mr. Fudge was born in Eel River Township on September 15, 1917, a son of Dean and Pearl (Arnold) Fudge, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1935.e As a young man he served during World War II in the U. S. Army's 12th Armored Division, 714 Tank Battalion A Company, under General George Patton. He was employed at International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 36 years, retiring as a stationary engineer in 1982.e Following his retirement he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Robert was an avid Chicago Cubs and Indiana University basketball fan.e He adored his family, and his grandsons were the joy of his life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Lake Twp., and American Legion Post 82 in Fort Wayne. On June 20, 1941 he was married to Josephine Fritz.e She preceded him in death on March 13, 2009. The surviving relatives include his son Dennis (Toni) Fudge of Roanoke; two grandsons Jeremy Fudge and Brad (Melissa) Fudge, both of Fort Wayne; and two great-grandchildren Jocelynn Fudge and Saben Fudge. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers Dean, Jr., Milo, Arthur, and Charles Fudge. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Friday, May 31, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church-Lake Twp., 7914 W. Cook Rd., with Pastor Ralph Easterhaus, officiating. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 3 to 7 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment with military graveside rites will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County. e For those who wish, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church-Lake Twp., or Heartland Home Health Care & Hospice. *****************************************
