Robert Jones

Robert L. Jones, 85, of Churubusco, passed away at 8:15 a.m. on May 27, 2017 at Sacred Heart in Avilla. Born in rural Allen County on June 29, 1931, a son of John & Fern (Brandon) Jones. He spent his formative years in Allen county and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1949. After high school, he served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. He was married to Nancy Penrod on April 9, 1954 in Whitley County. The couple settled in Allen county. He retired from H & H Equipment in 1992. He also engaged in farming in Eel River Township. Robert belonged to the American Legion and the Ideal Fish and Game Club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, sitting by the pond, walking around his farm, a long early morning drives. He liked to fish, hunt, and watch Nascar. Robert is survived by his wife, Nancy (Penrod) Jones of Churubusco; five daughters, Pamela (Ray) Shelton, Shari (Kirk) Dangler, Valerie (Brad) Mirwaldt, Susan Miller, and Monica (Dan) Millikan; a sister, Avonelle (Roger) Stampe; a brother, Roger (Mary) Jones; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eunice Steinbarger and Phyllis Geiger. Visiting hours will take place at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on May 31, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Services will begin at 11:00 AM, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home on June 1, 2017. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Memorials to Ideal Fish and Game Club, Churubusco.
