Robert Lewis, Jr., 68, a resident of Churubusco and well-known local pharmacist, passed away unexpectedly at 11:23 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at his residence.
Bob was born in Schenectady, New York on July 17, 1947, a son of Robert and Merlin (Brassard) Lewis, Sr. He spent his formative years in Schenectady and graduated from Mont Pleasant High School in 1966. Upon completing his high school education he attended the Butler University School of Pharmacy in Indianapolis, graduating from there in 1971.
On January 23, 1971 he was married in Indianapolis to Nancy Kay Casey of Andrews, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed as a pharmacist with Woods Pharmacy in Evansville and at Hooks Drugs in Washington, Indiana. In 1976 the couple moved to Churubusco where he was the lead pharmacist for CVS Pharmacy for 35 years, retiring in 2011.
In addition to his dedicated professional service to the Churubusco-area, he enjoyed a variety of sports. An avid golfer at Eel River Golf Course in Churubusco, he enjoyed following the Butler Bulldogs and the Baltimore Ravens.
Among the surviving relatives is his wife Nancy; his daughter Samantha (Robert) Brooksby of Ocoee, Fla; and three brothers Allen Lewis, Wayne Lewis, and Scott Lewis.
His parents preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2015, at the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco. His sister-in-law Rev. Deb Casey will officiate, and interment will follow.
Friends may call at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m.
