Robert Ostrander

Robert Lee Ostrander, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away at 9:09 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. Robert was born on June 10, 1929 in Ligonier, a son of Lymon Earl and Minnie (Merriman) Ostrander. He served his country in the Unites States Army, in Germany and Korea. On November 9, 1952 he was married in Ligonier to Marlene Stanley, and moved from Ligonier to their current home in 1960. He was employed at GE, and retired after 25 years. Robert was a member of Ligonier American Legion Post #243. The surviving relatives include wife, Marlene Ostrander of Fort Wayne; four daughters, Gwen (Becky Shedd) Ostrander of Laotto, Lori (Eric) McBride, Sherri (Mike) Stanford both of Fort Wayne, and Amy (Joe) Meeks of Churubusco; along with 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Brent Ostrander; two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, or one hour prior to the service. A Rosary services will be held Monday at 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Northeast Indiana Honor Flight.
