Max Pearson, 81, of Columbia City, formerly of Churubusco, passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at his home in Columbia City.
Mr. Pearson was born on December 29, 1934 in Lafayette, a son of Lloyd A. and Buford (Wright) Pearson. He spent his formative years in Lafayette, and graduated from Buck Creek High School in 1952.
On July 3, 1955 he was married in Delphi to Noreeta H. Herr, and moved to this area in 1970.
He was a Churubusco Reserve Police officer in the late 1970's
He was employed as an Iron Worker for 41 years, retiring in 1993 as a part-owner of M &S Steel.
Mr. Pearson attended Collins United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
The surviving relatives include wife, Noreeta H. Pearson of Columbia City; three sons, Glenn A. (Paula) Pearson of South Bend, Doug (Beth) Pearson, and David Pearson both of Churubusco; two daughters, Tracy (Wayne) Krider of Columbia City and Kristina (Garry) Oliver of South Bend; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Priest of Lafayette and Sharon (Rene) Richardson of Lafayette; nine grandchildren, Michael and Gregory Pearson, Brittany, Jordan, and Kayla Pearson, Nicole Huston, Jarrod Krider, Landon and Mallory Pearson; six great grandchildren, Matthew and Tristan Pearson, Jack and Ava Huston, Holyn and Hayden Krider.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Maxine Scowden and Naomi Campbell; a brother Millard Pearson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, or one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
