Robert "Mike" R. Winebrenner, 97, a resident of rural Albion, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife Velda at 12:00 a. m. on Friday, September 5, 2014 at home in Albion. Mr. Winebrenner was born on March 4, 1917 in Merriam, a son of Norris James and Ruby (Skinner) Winebrenner. He spent his formative years in Noble Township, and graduated from Albion High School. On April 17, 1938 he was married in Plymouth, Indiana to Velda Mae Leitch. He was engaged his whole life in farming and butchering in Noble Township. Mr. Winebrenner was a member of Charter Oak Community Church in Green Township and the Avilla Horse Shoe Club. He was a devoted dad, grandpa, great grandpa, and great great grandpa. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. His wife preceded him in death on November 23, 2007. The surviving relatives include a son Oran J. (Carol) Winebrenner of Huntertown; a sister Edith Summer; a brother Russell Winebrenner; his grandchildren Renee (Rex) Ott, Randy Katz, Jeff (Amy Blaine) Winebrenner, and Jason (Stephanie) Winebrenner; great grandchildren, Brandi Ott, Stana Butler, Skyler (Jessie Heck) Ott, Haley Winebrenner, Remington Winebrenner, and Rylynn Winebrenner; and a great great grandson Abrum Ott. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Roberta Ott; a sister Lois Stump; and four brothers Wilber, Guy, Richard, and Walter Winebrenner. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Aaron Peer, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, or one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning. Burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
