Roger Schiefelbein

Roger K. Schiefelbein, 78, a resident of rural Columbia City, passed away on Thursday morning, May 2, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Mr. Schiefelbein was born on August 3, 1934 in Shawano, Wisconsin, a son of William C. and Ruth M. (Thompson) Schiefelbein.e He spent his formative years in Wisconsin where he graduated from high school and attended college. A 25 year employee of Dana Weatherhead Division, he moved from Oklahoma City to Columbia City in 1982, and retired in 1996 as the assistant manager of the tool plant. On July 1, 1984 he was married in Allen County to Sue (McGunegill) Elder.e She survives. Also surviving are three sons Ken (Lisa) Schiefelbein of Columbia City, John P. (Dee Alexander) Schiefelbein of South Whitley, and Jason E. Schiefelbein of Albion; two step-daughters Vickie Sue Bunn of Churubusco and Dianna Elder of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his brothers Daryl Newingham and Rickie Newingham, both of Dunbar, Wisc., and Rodney Newingham of Iron Mountain, Mich; his sisters Jeannie (John) White of Wausaukee, Wisc., Marleen Kuczala of Goodman, Wisc., and Kathy (Joe Stoll) Newingham of Dunbar, Wisc; 12 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Bonnie White and also an infant sister. Funeral services will be held at 3 p. m. on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Brad Fredrickson, pastor of Tri Lakes Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 4 to 7 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Sunday afternoon.
