Ronald D. Eby, 85, of Huntertown, passed away on October 2, 2026, at Bethlehem Woods.
Ronald was born on December 21, 1940, in Huntertown, to the late Lewis and Ruth (Wehrly) Eby.
Ronald was a proud graduate of Huntertown High School and completed his education in 1959. He spent more than 30 years at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne, where he worked as a skilled machinist before retiring in 1993. After retiring, he worked for several years as a Custodian at Huntertown Elementary School.
Ronald had many interests and passions. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting, gardening, hosting rock soup, and had a particular fondness for elephants. Above all, Ronald treasured his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Ronald was also a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous and proudly maintained his sobriety since 1989. His commitment to recovery and his willingness to help others reflected his strength of character and his desire to encourage and support those around him.
On August 17, 1998, Ronald married Carol Hatch in Tennessee. Together, they shared many years of love, companionship, and cherished memories.
Ronald leaves behind his beloved wife, Carol; his son, Patrick (Tonya) Eby; his daughter, Paula (Dave) Harris; a stepdaughter, Dawn (Mike) Brown; his grandchildren, Kalee, Megan, Catie, Robbie, Abbey, Hunter, Allison, Addison, Christopher, Chelsea, Courtney, and Corbin; and nine great-grandchildren, Kaleah, Marcus, Nathaniel, Sawyer, Brady, Carter, Colton, Jacob, and Samara.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and David Eby; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Brock; and two grandchildren, Shanae and Jacob.
Funeral services will be held at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Huntertown Chapel, on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM, with public viewing beginning at 11:00 AM.
Following the funeral services, Ronald will be laid to rest at Eel River Cemetery, Churubusco.
