Rosemary Berry

Rosemary J. Berry, 94, of rural Churubusco, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at her home in Smith Township. Mrs. Berry was born in Churubusco on June 10, 1930, a daughter of the late Trevor and Berenice (Gross) Bonar and spent her formative years near Churubusco. She graduated from Churubusco High School in 1948 and did additional study at Elkhart University. On October 12, 1952, she was married in Green Center to William Berry, and the couple moved to her present home in 1957. William preceded her in death on August 6, 2015, after 62 years of marriage. She was employed by Methodist Hospital (now Parkview) and several doctors as a medical secretary. Following her retirement, she and her husband wintered in Harlingen, Texas for 37 years. As an active church member, she served for the Churches of God Indiana Conference. In Harlingen, Texas she was a member of Park Place Church. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and had traveled to all 50 states, as well as several Canadian provinces and Europe. They had enjoyed four Caribbean cruises. She is survived by her children, Roger E. (Vicki) Berry and Janet (Keith) Ramsey; a brother, Glenn (Kathleen) Bonar; a sister-in-law, Betty Bonar; two granddaughters, Stephanie (Evan) Boggs and Megan Zimmerman; six great- grandchildren, Dillon, Aiden, Madison, Cooper, Ryker, and Maverick. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John and David Bonar. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service. The family will also receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Bear Lake Church Camp, 1805 S. 16th St., Albion, IN 46701 or the Churubusco United Methodist Churubusco Food Pantry Food Bank.
