Roxy A. Gibson, 82, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
She was born in the town of Wolf Lake on November 15, 1942, to the late Chauncey and Lodema (Hile) Thompson. She spent her formative years in Wolf Lake and she was a graduate of Wolf Lake High School in 1960.
She was a devoted member of the Wolf Lake Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Roxy was a hardworking woman, having spent many years winding coils at Ultrasonic Sensors before her well-deserved retirement in 2005.
Roxy had a zest for life and found joy in the simplest of things. She was happiest when she was outdoors. She enjoyed swimming, camping, tending to her garden, and simply watching birds. Roxy enjoyed building elaborate Christmas displays in her home. Her spirit and love for life will be dearly missed.
Roxy is survived by her sons, Shane Gibson and Jeffrey (Sharon Bullens) Gibson; her grandchildren, Wyatt (Amanda) Gibson, Stevey (Paul) Powers, Courtney Gibson, Hunter Gibson, Skyler (Anneke) Grable-Gibson, and Lindzie (JT Palaika) Gibson; her eight great-grandchildren, Zane, Paxton, Liam, Oliver, Reece, Axel, Silas, and Hadleigh.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rick Brunner; and her siblings, Jack Thompson and Helen Mustin.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service.
Calling will also be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the funeral home, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
