Roy Greener

Roy S. Greener, 88, a resident of rural Fort Wayne and widely acquainted Lake Township farmer, passed away at 3:14 p. m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Mr. Greener was born on September 28, 1924 in Lake Township, a son of Otto and Anna (McCormick) Greener, and was a lifelong resident of rural Allen County, where he was engaged in farming all of his life. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Lake Twp., and Harmony Lodge 19 IOOF in Fort Wayne His marriage took place in Lake Township on August 14, 1948 to Della M. Emrich, and the couple had resided at their present farm home since 1950. Mrs. Greener preceded him in death on October 20, 2002. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. The surviving relatives include his daughters Linda (Daniel) Neff of North Webster and Phyllis (Scott) Gates of Columbia City; a son Roger L.(partner Gary Lutz) Greener of San Jose, Calif; his brother James H. (Norma) Greener of Huntertown; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at St. John's Lutheran Church-Lake Twp., 7914 W. Cook Rd., with Pastor Ralph Easterhaus, officiating. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco from 2-4 and 6-8 p. m. on Monday, or at the church one hour prior to the service. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church-Lake Twp, 7914 W.
