Samuel Burton Meredith Sr., 68, of Columbia City, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 at his home in Columbia City. Mr. Meredith was born on March 20, 1947 in Fort Wayne. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, and graduated from Central High School. On April 21, 2006 he was married in Plant City, Fl to Nancy Kuhner. He was employed as a Truck Driver for over 34 years. Mr. Meredith attended Christ Community Church. Sam enjoyed fishing, hunting, and Nascar. He loved driving truck, but most of all spending time with his family. The surviving relatives include wife, Nancy Meredith of Columbia City; his mother, Nan (Skipper) Meredith of Florida; three children, Samuel Meredith, Jr. of Fort Wayne, Cherri (Michael) Adams of Huntertown, and Lisa Knowlton of Florida; one brother, Tommy (Tammy) Meredith of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Sandy Jackson and Billy Ann (Dave) Chappell both of Florida; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, William Meredith. Memorial services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Van Horn, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday.
