Scott Ickes, 56, of Fort Wayne, passed away on August 24, 2023, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born in Fort Wayne on, October 1, 1966, to Terry and Beth (Hinton) Ickes. A lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, Scott graduated from Wayne High School in 1985. Scott spent the majority of his career making a significant impact on his community through his work in customer service within the retail sector. Known for his warm heart and vibrant personality, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as playing on the computer and card games, enjoying music, attending concerts, and watching movies. Scott often expressed his longing for a laid-back life, frequently quipping, "I wish I was in Florida on a beach, soaking up the sun." Scott, who never married, was a pillar of strength and support for his beloved family, who meant the world to him. He is survived by his mother, Beth Ickes; his brother, David (Melissa) Ickes; his nieces, Cassidy and Mikayla Ickes. Scott is preceded in death by his father, Terry Ickes. A public calling will take place on Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel. This will be followed by a graveside service at the Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
