Shelvy Jean Fast, 79, a resident of Green Township in Noble County and wife of Billy J. Fast, was received into the arms of her Loving Savior on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne from injuries received in an auto accident on November 18.
Shelvy Jean was born in Green Township on September 6, 1936, the only child of Gerald "Bud" and Edna B. (Summers) Herendeen. She spent her formative years on the family farm there and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1954.
A lifelong resident of Green Township, she had been employed as a teller at the former Churubusco State Bank for 25 years, and retired in 2002 from Farmers & Merchants Bank in LaOtto after 11 years.
She was a founding member of the Cornerstone Wesleyan Church in Merriam, and had enjoyed serving as a volunteer at The Oaks in Columbia City since 1999. Shelvy Jean greatly enjoyed mowing the beautiful lawn surrounding her home, and will long be remembered for her pie baking and her love of gospel music.
On February 3, 1985 she was married in Green Township to Billy J. Fast. He survives.
Other surviving relatives include her three step-children Billy Fast, Jr. of Lake Station, Linda (Greg) Kolakoski of Summerfield, Fla., and Curtis Fast of Crawfordsville; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a step-daughter Angie Fast.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at the Cornerstone Wesleyan Church in Merriam with Pastor George Cecil, officiating.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall on Monday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p.m., or one hour prior to the funeral Tuesday morning.
Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
