Shirley Greene, 87, formerly of Garland, Texas, and most recently of Columbia City, went to her Heavenly home, on Monday, April 10, 2023, at her daughter's home in Columbia City.
She was born in Lost Creek, West Virginia, to the late Arlie and Hazel (Golden) Forrester.
Shirley retired from Kroger after 29 years of service. Following her retirement, she worked for Hallmark Cards for 11 years.
She was a long-time member of Rodgers Baptist Church. She loved Christmas and her Christian friends. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Robin Lynne (Kelvin) Ramsey; seven grandchildren, Missy Boren, Leslie Powers, Amber Rood, Michael France, Micah Hayhurst, Brandon Hayhurst, and Blane Hayhurst, Jr.; 17 great-grandchildren; also nieces and nephews; her loving friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Greene; two sons, David Lee Hayhurst and Blane Alan Hayhurst; two sisters, June (Elwood) Dobbins and Joan (Arnold) Moore.
The family will receive family and friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, on Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
The family will also receive family and friend at the Williams Funeral Home, Garland, Texas, on Monday April 24, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m., on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Funeral Home in Garland.
Burial will take place in the Restland Memorial Park.
