Sidney L. Perry, 77, a resident of Crooked Lake in Steuben County and formerly of Fort Wayne, passed away at 6:13 p. m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at The Laurels of DeKalb in Butler following a lengthy illness. Mr. Perry was born on March 29, 1935 in Fort Wayne, a son of Sidney and Valleta (Oberholtzer) Perry, Sr., and spent his formative years there. On January 17, 1953 he was married in Aboite Township to Nancy Joan Lesh.e The couple lived all of their married lives in Fort Wayne until moving to their lake home in Steuben County in 1990. Employed at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne for over 30 years, he retired from there in 1993.e In his leisure time he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling, and most especially loved and cherished his family. The surviving relatives include his wife Nancy, to whom he was married for 60 years; four children Mike (Paula) Perry of Huntertown, Pam (Lynn) LaRue of Columbia City, and Charlene Perry and Matt (Terry) Perry, both of Fort Wayne; a brother Ralph (Pat) Perry of Fort Wayne; a sister Teresa Earhart of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Diane Lee; and by a brother Edward Perry. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 13733 Wesley Chapel Road, with Pastor Larry Smith, officiating. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Monday from 2-4 and from 6-8 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service.
