Stanley E. Gregory, 83, a resident of Fort Wayne, died unexpectedly at 10:30 a. m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at the family residence from the result of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Gregory was born in Bloomington, Illinois on April 11, 1926, a son of Herbert W. and Lula Bell [Grubb] Gregory, and spent his formative years in Bryan Ohio. As a young man he served with the U. S. Navy during World War II,e was formerly employed at Fruehauf Trailer Company in Fort Wayne, and was also engaged in farming for a period.e He retired as the president and general manager of Truck Transport Equipment in Fort Wayne in 1988 after 26 years. On October 1, 1945 he was married in Fort Wayne to Margaret Baker.e She survives. Also surviving are his four daughters Sharon Graber of Fort Wayne, Ramona [Paul] Anderson of Bamberg, South Carolina, Rebecca [Timothy] Quinton of Fort Wayne, and Kathern [Tom] Bunker of Fort Wayne; a brother J. William [Lorene] Gregory of Butler; a sister-in-law Ruth Pierce of Montpelier, Ohio; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Janie Pierce and Carrie Coutz; and by two brothers Marvin Pierce and Paul H. Gregory. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Pastor Scott Christensen, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
