Stephen Dannenfelser, 80, passed away on June 18, 2025, at Coventry Meadows.
He was born in Fort Wayne on January 2, 1945. Stephen was adopted by Freeman and Helen (Fuhrman) Dannenfelser, and he spent his formative years in Fort Wayne. He left high school early to serve in the United States Navy, and upon his return, he received his GED.
He was married to his beloved wife, Sue Ellyn Henline, on May 5, 1970, and together they built a life full of love and shared experiences. One of the shared experiences was when he accepted Christ on April 3, 1977. Stephen spent his professional life as a dedicated Plant Operator for the City of Fort Wayne, retiring in 2006 after decades of faithful service. Before working for the city, he had been a sales manager for Old Fort Specialty. He was known not only for his professional commitment but also for his passion for music, with a particular talent for playing the organ and keyboard.
Stephen held the esteemed position of Past Vice President of the Fort Wayne Advertising Club, where he also served as a board member, showcasing his dedication to his community.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Dannenfelser; his two sons, Jonathan (Deana) Dannenfelser and Cristopher (Rhonda) Dannenfelser; his four grandchildren, Melody, Madeline, Abigail, and Owen; a nephew, Brent (Becky) Lawles; and a niece, Michelle (Wayne) Lake.
In addition to his parents, He is preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Lawles.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco Chapel, with calling one hour before the service.
Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Williamsport Cemetery, Poe.
