Stephen Flannery

Stephen W. Flannery, 61, a resident of Muncie and formerly of Gaston, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Parkview Nursing Center in Muncie following a lengthy illness. Mr. Flannery was born in Muncie on April 17, 1952, a son of William and Betty (Mitchner) Flannery. He spent all of his formative years in Gaston and completed his education with the Class of 1970 at Wes-Del High School. He was married in Muncie on August 14, 1999 to Mary Whited, and had lived in Muncie all of his adult life. Surviving are his wife Mary; three step-daughters Mary Ann Hebert, Edith Russelburge, and Kimberly Russelburge, all of Mayfield, Ky; a step-son Robert Lee Hebert of Paducah, Ky; his sisters Sharon Flannery of Palm Bay, Fla. and Linda Bryan of Selma; two sisters-in-law Margaret Drown of Muncie and Deborah King of Livingston, Tenn; a brother-in-law Eddie Whited of Monticello, Ky; a niece Joanne (Dale) Cooper of Muncie; a great-nephew John Cooper of Muncie; a cousin Curt (Sherry) Flannery of Parker City; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 3 p. m. on Monday, April 21, in the chapel at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, north of Muncie. Burial will follow.
