Stuart Petrie

Stuart L. Petrie, 87, of Churubusco, passed away at 12:07 pm on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his home in Churubusco. Mr. Petrie was born on February 6, 1927 in Livia, Kentucky, a son of Guy and Margaret (Hatfield) Petrie. He spent his formative years in McLean County, Kentucky, and attended school in Livermore, Kentucky. After high school he served in World War II in the United States Marine Corps. On June 22, 1946 he was married to Retha F. Howard. They moved from McLean County, Kentucky, to Churubusco in 1969. He was employed at Wayne Home Equipment, and retired in 1989. He also was a driver for the Indiana Auto Action for 16 years. Mr. Petrie was a member to the Green Center United Methodist Church. His spouse preceded him in death on July 30, 2002. The surviving relatives include three sons, Keith Petrie of Lagrange, Gerald (Ann) Petrie of Indianapolis, and John S. (Cathy) Petrie of Albion; a daughter, Debbie Arehart of Churubusco; a brother, Guy (Margaret) Petrie II of Melbourne, Fla; seven grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Margaret (Hatfield) Petrie. A memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, April 11, 2014 at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Nancy Fergusson and Pastor John Shell, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from noon to 2:00 pm Friday. Burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
