Terry Holmes, 76, of Churubusco, passed away on June 12, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital.
He was born in Bluffton on September 4, 1948, to the late Francis "Link" and Wilda (Brickley) Holmes. He spent his formative years in Bluffton and graduated from Bluffton High School.
Terry was a proud and dedicated Army veteran during the Vietnam War, following his time in active duty, he served many years in the National Guard, in Bluffton. a commitment to his country that he carried throughout his life as an active member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was a loving husband to Joyce (White) Holmes, his wife of over forty-two years, whom he married on December 18, 1982.
Terry's hobbies reflected his love for nature and the great outdoors. He found joy in fishing and hunting, often embarking on canoeing trips with his wife to the Boundary Waters in Minnesota and the Hoosier National Forest. Terry also held a unique fondness for mowing the grass, which he found to be both a pleasurable and relaxing activity. His life was filled with the simple pleasures of the natural world, and he shared these passions with those around him.
Terry is survived by his wife, Joyce Holmes; his sons, Shane Holmes and Chad (Brandy) Holmes; his brothers, Carey (Susie) Holmes, Jeff (Bobbi) Holmes, Kevin (Jan) Holmes, and Robin (Denette) Holmes; his sister, Pam (Dennis) Bober; his grandchildren, Alli and Mathew; and a great-grandson, Noah.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother, Tim Holmes.
At Terry's request, there will be a memorial gathering at the American Legion Post #157 beginning at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
