Terry Zolman

Rev. Terry L. Zolman, 64, a resident of rural Albion and senior pastor of the Merriam Christian Chapel, passed away at 10:05 p. m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.e He had suffered a serious fall on Friday, and had been hospitalized since that time. Pastor Zolman was born in Fort Wayne on July 31, 1947, a son of Clyde D. and Beulah Ella (Shaffer) Zolman.e He spent his formative years in Smith Township, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1965.e As a young man he attended Appalachian Bible College, the Moody Bible Institute, and later graduated from Fort Wayne Bible College. On August 12, 1967 he was married in Merriam to Julie A. Herron.e The couple have lived most of their adult lives in rural Noble County. He had worked at Bonar Construction, served for four years as a missionary to New Zealand, and had been the senior pastor of the Merriam Christian Chapel since 1979.e Known as a gifted counselor and teacher, he loved and cherished his family, and most importantly had a lifelong passion for sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.e He was a member of the Merriam Christian Chapel, and served as president of the Spanish World Gospel Mission in Winona Lake. The surviving relatives include his wife Julie; three children Chad (Christine) Zolman of Fort Wayne and Tera (Tim) Andrews and Bryce (Cori) Zolman, both of rural Albion; four siblings Barbara Lou (Donald) Bonar of Columbia City, Dean E. (Sharon) Zolman of Churubusco, and Nick L. (Elaine) Zolman and DeLara (Larry) Miller, both of Columbia City; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, December 17, 2011, in the Merriam Christian Chapel, 3985 South U. S. 33, with Pastors Steve Pulley and Dwayne Berna, officiating. The family will receive friends in the church multi-purpose room on Friday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Saturday morning.
