Thelma Lehman

Thelma J. Lehman, 82, a former resident of Lake Township in Allen County and widow of Ora D. Lehman, passed away at 12:05 a. m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Renaissance Village. She had been a patient there for seven and one-half years. Mrs. Lehman was born in Wells County on August 19, 1932, a daughter of Franklin and Rosella (Powell) James, and spent her formative years there. She lived much of her adult life in the Arcola-area, and spent nine years at Lake Panasoffkee, Florida before moving to Churubusco in 2005, where she lived for a short time. A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and cooking. Most especially, she loved and cherished her family. On August 29, 1981 she was married in Fort Wayne to Ora D. Lehman. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2013. The surviving relatives include her four daughters Rosella (Don) Thatcher of Albion, Teresa (Larry) Elliott of Churubusco, Anna Newman of Columbia City, and Roberta "Bert" (Randy) Geisleman of Huntertown; a sister Betty Gregg of Ossian; a brother-in-law Roger Huffman of Bluffton; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers Jack James and John James; and by three sisters Helen James, Mary James, and Ruby Huffman. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Corinne Boruff-Stucker, pastor of Churubusco United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning. Interment will be in the Union Township Cemetery, Coesse.
