Theodore W. "Ted" Meyer, 77, a resident of rural Fort Wayne, died at 6:00 p. m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007, at his home in Lake Township. He had been in declining health for the past two years. Mr. Meyer was born on March 12, 1930 in Berne, a son of Harvey Earl and Elizabeth Marie (Hubner) Meyer, and lived in Fort Wayne as a boy. He moved with his parents to Eel River Township as a youth, and graduated from Huntertown High School in 1947. He served for a period with the U. S. Army, and was married in Fort Wayne on December 24, 1951 to Pauline E. Rodman. Following his military discharge, he returned to Allen County and lived near Ari before moving to his present farm home in Lake Township in 1974. He was formerly employed at both Kraft Foods and Newman Foundry in Kendallville. Employed at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne for over 25 years, he retired from there as a gear cutter and fork lift operator in 1991, and was also engaged in farming in Lake Township. He attended the Union Chapel United Brethren in Christ Church north of Fort Wayne, and was a member of the Dana Quarter Century Club and the Wood Turners Club. In his leisure time he enjoyed wood turning, fishing, camping, and mushroom hunting. The surviving relatives include his wife Pauline, to whom he was married for over 55 years; three sons Ronald W. (Maggie) Meyer of Herald, Calif., Paul R. (Janeie) Meyer of Churubusco, and Ernest A. (Kathy) Meyer of Harlan; and three sisters Harvena Friemuth and Eileen Suetterlin, both of Fort Wayne, and Mary Shoudel of Churubusco. There are 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Elizabeth Evelyn Meyer in 1954, and by a son Carl E. Meyer in 1988. Also deceased are four brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a. m. Wednesday, October 3, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Chaplain Karen Kossberg and Pastor Gary Reiber, officiating. The family will receive friends at the mortuary on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Wednesday morning. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, northwest of Huntertown.
