Thomas L. "Tom" Martin, 53, a resident of Churubusco, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 10:04 p. m., surrounded by his loving family. He had been in declining health since October. Mr. Martin was born in Huntington on September 12, 1961, a son of James Lee and Nina (King) Martin. He spent his early years in Huntington, and as a youth moved with his parents to a home near Green Center. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1979. On October 4, 1985 he was married in Fort Wayne to Teresa Matson, and lived all of his adult life in Churubusco. For 20 years he was employed by Specialty Tool, Inc. in Fort Wayne, and had served as the company's president until illness had forced his retirement. He attended the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, and in his leisure time had enjoyed race car driving, attending and supporting his son's athletic events, and most especially loved his friends and family. The surviving relatives include his wife Teresa; his sons Bryan Martin of Fort Wayne and Bradley Martin, at home; his mother Nina Martin of Columbia City; and his mother-in-law Nancy Matson of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his father; and by a son Andrew Martin.. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 917 W. Jefferson Blvd., with Pastors Arthur Klausmeier and Thomas Eggold, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Tuesday from 2 to 8 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco. Memorial contributions should be directed to the family. *********************************************
