Timothy C Smith, 74, of Columbia City, formerly of Garrett, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2020, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Born in Fort Wayne, on April 5, 1946, to the late Charles and Mary Virginia (White) Smith. He spent his formative years in Fort Wayne, graduating from Central Catholic High School.
After high school, he proudly served in the United States Navy. Timothy was married to Valerie Gibson. Together the couple owned and operated My Corner Cafe, in Garrett, until the passing of Valerie on June 20, 2000.
In his youth he worked at the family business in Fort Wayne at the Baker Boy Bakery. Tim returned from the Navy and worked as a union truck driver. He drove for McClain Trucking, CCX, Triple Crown and MXI, just to name a few. He even was an owner/operator for several years.
Timothy is survived by a daughter, Dawn (John) Jones; two sisters, Carole Beiswanger and Patricia (James) Alspaugh; a brother, Donald J. Smith; two grandsons, David (Janelle) Jones and Charles (Andrea) Jones; two great-grandchildren, Noah and Emma Jones.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 20, 2020, at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A private service will follow.
Burial taking place at Christian Union Cemetery, Garrett.
