Vera Lucille (Ross) Dodd, 90, of Columbia City, passed away at 7:19 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Parkview Whitley in Columbia City. Mrs. Dodd was born on November 27, 1925 in Benton County, Indiana, a daughter of Earnie P. and Bertha (Zolman) Cripe. She spent her formative years in Whitley and DeKalb Counties. On March 3, 1942 she was married to Frank A. Ross. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1993. She was married to Don Dodd on January 2, 1994, she then moved from Columbia City to Constantine, Mi. After his death on August 13, 2009 she returned to Columbia City. The surviving relatives include son, James P. (Leathie) Ross of Columbia City; two daughter-in-laws, Linda Ross of Fountain, CO, and Becky Ross of Columbia City; a brother, Delbert (Shirley) Cripe of Columbia City; nine grandchildren, 17great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and spouses, she was preceded in death by her two sons, Frank E. Ross and Perry F. Ross; six sisters, Opal Johnston, Elizabeth Boggs, Dorothy Dodd, Mildred Brumbaugh, Margaret Striegle, and Beverly Summers; six brothers, Eugene Cripe, Edgar Cripe, Earnie V. Cripe, Alfred Cripe, Robert Cripe, and Charles Cripe; two infant sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Eel River Cemetery, Allen County.
