Verba Wilson

Verba Mae Wilson, 73, a resident of Eel River Township in Allen County and wife of Lyle G. Wilson, passed away at 5:43 a. m. on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She had been in failing health for the past month, and had been a patient there for the past three weeks. Mrs. Wilson was born in Seward, Nebraska on March 9, 1939, a daughter of Earl W. and Esther E. (Eicher) Stutzman. As a teenager she came to Goshen and graduated from Bethany Christian High School there in 1956. It was there that she met her husband, and the couple were married in Goshen on November 18, 1957. She had lived most of her adult life in Allen County. A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, she was a homemaker most of her life, and also taught piano privately and was engaged in domestic work. A member of the Central Church, east of Fort Wayne, she had served as the church's organist, and also taught Sunday School there for over 30 years. She loved children, music, and most especially loved and cherished her family. The surviving relatives include her husband Lyle G. Wilson, to whom she was married for over 54 years; a daughter Gina (Troy) Cole of Wabash; two sons Robin (Barbara) Wilson of Rogers, Ark. and Scot (Sharon) Wilson of Pigeon, Mich; a brother Cloy (Linda) Stutzman of Milford, Neb; two sisters Joyce Buschert of Goshen and Pauline (Harlan) Hochstetler of Philadelphia, Penn; a sister-in-law Ruby Stutzman of Commerce City, Col; and five grandsons Jonathon Wilson, Timothy Wilson, Trae Cole, Joshua Wilson, and Kameron Cole. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Stutzman; and by a brother-in-law Dave Buschert. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. on Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Central Church, 5801 Schwartz Road, with Pastors Don Delagrange and Phil Miller, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Saturday from 2 to 6 p. m., or at the church one hour prior to the service Sunday afternoon. Interment will be in the Yaggy Cemetery, Grabill.
