Virginia L. Bulmer, 82, a former resident of Churubusco and widow of Herbert M. Bulmer, passed away at 12:03 a. m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She had been in declining health for some time, and had entered the hospital earlier in the day after suffering an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Bulmer was born on February 4, 1933 in Calla, Kentucky, a daughter of Matt and Flossie E. (Kincaid) Fletcher. She moved to West Virginia from Kentucky in 1940 and had lived in Churubusco since 1944. On October 13, 1950 she was married in Fort Wayne to Herbert M. Bulmer, and had been employed as an assembly worker at Magnavox in Fort Wayne for 21 years, retiring from there in 1989. She was a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 Ladies Auxiliary in Churubusco, and the Churubusco Veteran's of Foreign Wars Turtle Post 3846 Ladies Auxiliary. Mr. Bulmer preceded her in death on February 6, 1990. The surviving relatives include her children Peggy (James) Ryan of Fort Wayne, with whom she made her home, Debra (Richard) Parks of Churubusco, and Terry (Cheryl) Bulmer of Ossian; nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Judy Snyder; three brothers Jesse Fletcher, Jasper "Pete" Fletcher, and Vernon Fletcher; and by three sisters Elizabeth Fletcher, Lillian Fletcher, and Delois "Dude" Clemons. Funeral services will be held at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Rick Van Horn, pastor of Christ Community Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p. m., on Monday or one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
