Virginia M. Fick, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, December 30, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on May 28, 1927, in Aboite Township Indiana to the late William and Florence (Schinbeckler) Klaehn, Virginia spent her formative years on the family farm, instilling into her an unwavering sense of dedication and loyalty that would become her trademark.
Virginia was a 1945 graduate of Arcola High School and later went on to work at Lincoln Life as a young woman. Following her marriage to Carl M. Fick on August 28, 1948, she moved to the farm in Lake Township, where she spent the rest of her life cultivating a loving home. Virginia's life was a true testament to the words, "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved."
Virginia was a woman of unwavering faith, her dedication to her church and community was only surpassed by her devotion to her family. Virginia was a dedicated homemaker, managing her home with expertise and love. She was a supportive pillar in her community, a devout member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and a member of the Willing Workers Homemaker's Club.
Virginia is survived by her children; Marsha (William) Hibben, Marvin Fick, Ronald (Elizabeth) Fick, and Norman (Rebecca) Fick; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara Klaehn, and Helen Kuehnert.
In addition to both of her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl M. Fick; a sister, Eloise (Merle) Gerig; a brother, Merlyn Klaehn; and brothers-in-law, Richard Kuehnert and Edward (Margaret)Fick.
In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, "It is not length of life, but depth of life." Virginia's life, though we wish could have been longer, was undoubtedly deep, filled with love, service, and dedication.
