Virginia Mcbride

Virginia Ruth McBride, 95, of Churubusco, passed away at 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Avilla. Mrs. McBride was born on April 12, 1921 in Osceola, Indiana, a daughter of George Ronald and Erma (Galloway) Erickson. She spent her formative years in Churubusco, and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1939. On October 12, 1940 she was married in Fort Wayne to Orval C. McBride. She was employed at Dana Corporation, Churubusco, and retired in 1983 after 30 years. Mrs. McBride was a member of Churubusco Church of the Nazarene. Her spouse preceded her in death on January 3, 1987. The surviving relatives include two sons, George A. (Carol) McBride of Churubusco and David (Becky) McBride of Springfield, OH; a daughter, Sharon Herron of Churubusco; eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Lucy Dowell and Mary Alice Norris; a brother, Gordon Erickson; and one Great-Grandson Cody Ray Crigger. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Eddie R. Jones, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, or one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
