Walter Carpenter

January 16, 1949 — August 24, 2025

Walter Lee Carpenter, lovingly known as Walt, 76, of Tri-Lakes, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at his home. He was born on January 16, 1949, in Churubusco, to the late Benjamin and Phyllis (Kreger) Carpenter. Walter spent his life in Indiana, making Tri-Lakes his home. He was committed to his trade at Lincoln Food Services, from where he retired after many years of service. Walt was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in deer hunting, bluegill fishing, and he was also fond of mushroom hunting. When he wasn't exploring the great outdoors, he showed his nurturing side through his gardening of flowers and vegetables. Walter married Jean (Duncan) Brown on June 03, 2001, and together they built a beautiful life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Brown; his daughters, Sherry (Scott) Healdy, Kim (Tracy) Greshaw, and Jamie (Brent) King; his stepdaughter, Dawn Nightenhalser; his sisters, Helen (DeWayne) Stienbarger and Peggy Elser; his brothers, Tom Ferguson, Dan (Phyllis) Ferguson, and Richard (Nila) Ferguson; several grandchildren and a couple great-grandchildren. At Walt's request, there will not be any services at this time. Memorials to Whitley County Humane Society. Sheets & Childs Funeral Home has been entrusted with these arrangements.
