Wanda Roberson

Wanda Roberson, 88, a resident of rural Churubusco in Allen County and widow of John David Roberson, passed away at 4:30 a. m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at her home in Eel River Township following an extended illness. Mrs. Roberson was born in Decatur on September 7, 1925, a daughter of Noah and Manda (Myers) Blowers, and grew up in the Geneva-area. As a youth, she moved to Noble County with her parents and graduated from Albion High School in 1944. On March 2, 1946 she was married in Noble County to John David Roberson, and lived all of her adult life on the family farm in Eel River Township. She had previously worked at General Electric, H&O Sport Shop, and Lucky Burger. She retired in 1987 from Dana Corporation in Churubusco after 14 years. A longtime member of the First Eel River Baptist Church, south of Churubusco, she had been active there in various education and administrative capacities. She was known for her strong work ethic, and in her leisure time enjoyed gardening, canning, and sewing. Mr. Roberson preceded her in death on April 8, 1998. The surviving relatives include her children Lois Marie (Rob) Smith of Carmel, and David Roberson and Anita Roberson, both of Churubusco; a son-in-law William R. Hagemeier of Carlisle; her grandson Jeffrey (Kelly) Smith; and a great-grandson Gabriel Smith. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Roberson Hagemeier on November 17, 2013;brother Carson Blowers; and sisters Mary Ann Kirschner and Clara Blowers. Service is 11 a. m. Tuesday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Kerry Niman, pastor of First Eel River Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 8 p. m., or one hour prior to the service Tuesday morning. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery at a later date. **********************************
