William Fletcher

William H. "Skeet" Fletcher, 87, a resident of Churubusco, passed away at 9:15 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2015 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Fletcher was born in Jackson, Kentucky on March 27, 1928, a son of Doc and Maude (Stamper) Fletcher. He moved to the Collins-area as a youth with his parents, and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was married in Huntertown on October 2, 1948 to Velma L. Johnson, and lived his adult life in Churubusco. Employed at Dana Corporation in Fort Wayne, he retired from the heat-treat department there in 1990 after 30 and one-half years. He was a member of the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, and in his leisure time was an avid fisherman. Most especially he loved and cherished his church and his family. Mrs. Fletcher preceded him in death on January 23, 1999. The surviving relatives include his children Robert (Kathy) Fletcher of Huntertown, Marla (Paul) Gordon of Churubusco, Sharon (Craig) Eminger of LaOtto, and Tony Fletcher of Churubusco; a sister Jeanette Wolfe of Columbia City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son Rex Fletcher on March 3, 2011; and by four brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2015, at the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Eddie Jones, officiating. The family will receive friends at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m., or at the church one hour prior to the service Friday morning. Interment will be in the Riverview Cemetery, south of Churubusco. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, 1000 W.
