William "Bill" Russell Hibben, 73, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on February 10, 2025. He was born in Elkhart on March 12, 1951, to the late David and Mildred (Spore) Hibben. He grew up in Fort Wayne and was a 1969 South Side High School graduate. After graduation, Bill attended the Career Academy School of Broadcasting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He met his wife, Marsha (Fick) Hibben while attending Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne where he earned degrees in Radio/Television Communication and Business. After college, Bill created audio-visual programs for advertising and training at AGS&R Studios for several years. He spent 20 years working at the United States Post Office, where he was a friendly face at many postal windows around town. When his family went out in public with him, they often encountered people who recognized him as "Bill from the post office." Bill never knew a stranger. He loved socializing and made friends everywhere he went. After leaving the Post Office, Bill started his own business providing financial services. In his retirement, he spent time working at Sweetwater Sound and Kohls.
Over the years, he had many interests, including, but not limited to, drumming, running, dartball, attending the Indianapolis 500, public speaking with the Toastmasters, and traveling. He volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader, but above all, he was committed to serving his community of faith at St. John's Lutheran Church—Lake Township. He loved teaching Sunday School and playing in the worship band.
