William G. McCoy, 75, of Albion, passed away at 1:55 p. m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Avalon Village in Ligonier following a lengthy illness. Mr. McCoy was born on February 27, 1937 on the family farm southwest of Albion, a son of James Ralph and Freida L. (Gaerte) McCoy.e He spent his formative years in York Township and graduated from Albion-Jefferson High School in 1955. He was engaged in dairy farming in York Township for much of his life, and had also worked at Monsanto and later at Maple Leaf Farms.e Following his retirement he wintered in Florida.e He was a member of the Noble County Gas & Steam Engine Organization. On April 17, 1970 he was married to Daisy M. Clouse.e She preceded him in death on June 7, 1998. The surviving relatives include two brothers James R. (Linda) McCoy and John (Donna) McCoy, both of Albion; two sisters Janice M. Aungst of Dade City, Fla., and Mary Inlow (Ron) Poyser of Albion; his companion Flora VanStraaten of Albion; her children Tim Tillman of Albion and John (Sharon) Tillman of Mulberry, Fla; and her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.e He also had numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Mark E. Wood, pastor of Burr Oak Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends after 11 a. m. Tuesday at the funeral home until the hour of the service. Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Central Noble Food Pantry, Albion. **************************************************
