William Scheurich

William H. Scheurich, 78, of rural Avilla, passed away on March 20, 2020, at his home. Born in Kendallville, on January 23, 1942, to the late Howard and Jessie (Snell) Scheurich. He spent his formative years in Albion, graduating from Albion High School in 1960. William was married to Dorthy Bowers in Hopewell Presbyterian Church, on June 8, 1962. He worked as a layout tech at Tokheim for 39 years, retiring in 2002. He was a lifelong farmer and loyal devotee to Allis Chalmers Tractors. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Churubusco. His family fondly remembers him for his independent spirit, sharp wit and endlessly ornery personality. He was self-reliant and proudly did things his way. William is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorthy Scheurich; two sons, Christopher Scheurich and Troy Scheurich; a brother, Kerry (Gail) Scheurich; five grandchildren, Stephanie and Stacie Scheurich, Kayla Delaplain, Shalana Dodson and Chrissa Delaplain; one great-grandson, Jaxson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Scheurich. At this time there will be a private family service with a celebration of life service to be held at a later date.
