William Sobasky

William A. "Bill" Sobasky, 71, a resident of rural LaOtto, passed away at 11:35 a. m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. He had been in declining health since September and had entered the hospital on Wednesday. Mr. Sobasky was born on October 8, 1943 in Fort Wayne, and son of Joseph and Mary (Hollis) Sobasky, and spent much of his formative years near Stroh in LaGrange County. On September 4, 1971 he was married in Stroh to Jacque E. Boyer, and had been a resident of Swan Township since 1976. He served with the U. S. Army National Guard for 18 years, and retired from construction work in 2004. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ege, its Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus in Garrett. In his leisure time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, playing cards, and most especially loved and cherished his family. The surviving relatives include his wife Jacque; his children Kellie (Edward) Huelsenbeck of LaOtto, and Rusty (Nancy) Sobasky and Andrew (Jeanette) Sobasky, both of Churubusco; six grandchildren Taylor, Alyssa, Cole, and Mckenna Sobasky, and Bayleigh and Jack Huelsenbeck; two brothers and four sisters. His parents preceded him in death. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a. m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Ege with Father Danney Pinto, the celebrant. The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco on Monday from 2 to 8 p. m. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 8 p. m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Ege Catholic Cemetery, Noble County. For those who wish, memorials may be directed to the church cemetery fund, LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department, Swan Twp. 4-H or Green Twp.
