Willodean Grawcock Hines, 88, a resident of Fort Wayne and a native of Churubusco, passed away at 12:45 a. m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at Miller's Merry Manor in Syracuse. She had been in failing health since May and had entered the nursing home on Saturday. Willodean was born on August 17, 1924 in Churubusco, a daughter of Leslie and Mary Agnes (Spacy) Grawcock. She spent her formative years there and graduated from Churubusco High School in 1941. She lived all of her adult life in Fort Wayne, and was employed for 42 years as a waitress in various Fort Wayne restaurants. She also worked as a jewelry clerk at Glenbrook Mall for several years following her retirement. One of the great loves of her life was spending time with friends and neighbors at her cottage on Adams Lake during the summer months. In 1990 she was married to Gilbert Hines. He preceded her in death in 2000. The surviving relatives include a sister Doris A. Stahly of Syracuse; two brothers Robert L. Grawcock of Columbia City and Don (Sarah) Grawcock of Syracuse; four step-children; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Max E. Grawcock; and by a sister Betty L. Haflich. Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. on Friday, July 5, 2013, at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Brad Cox, pastor of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 11 a. m. on Friday until the hour of the service. Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
